English
Our department strives to give students many opportunities to learn through various activities allowing the curriculum to become achievable to our unique population of learners. Moreover, English is an opportunity for students to demonstrate that they are competent thinkers and communicators; it honours the ways in which students think, learn, and grow while preparing them for a successful lifetime of learning where ongoing change is constant.
Concept based learning and the development of competencies engage students in authentic tasks that connect them to the real world. It is not enough to know about English grammar and lists of literary terms. It is, however, important to play with words and understand how language works. By following examples like the "Know Understand Do" model, English creates a foundation for a lifetime of learning.
